New Lit Salon Press combines literary excellence with inspiring and original artwork. We’re thrilled to offer exciting new luminaries the chance to shine.

Like the Literary and Art Salons of old, New Lit Salon Press is founded on the principle that Words and Art can and should coexist. NLSP is committed to publishing essays, stories, poems, novels, and art from undiscovered writers and promising artists who struggle to thrive in a marketplace that fails to recognize their talent.

We welcome simultaneous submissions. However, please let us know in your cover letter and notify us in a jiffy if your work is accepted elsewhere.

We will let you know if your work is accepted or declined. If you haven't heard from us after a couple of months, feel free to send a query.

All work submitted remains the property of the author/artist.

As a small indie press, we can currently offer payment in the form of one free copy of the e-book and a contributor’s discount of 30% off the print edition. But we'll also send lots of love your way with links to your website and promotion on our social media. Best of all, you'll be part of the NLSP family!

Ends on August 31, 2017
From Tales of the South to Madness and even the Beyond, we have traveled across a diverse landscape of literary genres. Now, NLSP will take readers to a place of Horror in the fourth installment of our NEW series:

First Came Fear:

New Tales of Horror

Edited by Casey Ellis

From the editor who brought you Startling Sci-Fi: New Tales of the Beyond comes a collection that will terrify. Horror remains one of the most popular genres in television, film and, of course, literature. NLSP wants to join the ghoulish party! Send us your unique, creative fiction in the art of fear. Ghosts, werewolves, vampires and zombies are great. We also welcome psychological horror, tales of witchcraft and black magic, and the work of Old Scratch himself. Everyone is welcome to submit. Take your work in any direction you like, but make sure it fits into the great literary traditions of the genre. Think Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker, and Oscar Wilde to Shirley Jackson, Ira Levin, and Anne Rice. From The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and Kwaidan to The Babadook and Get Out, the best horror, from the quietest gothic to the grisliest gore, uses cleverness and craft. Above all else, whether it be spiritually, intellectually, viscerally or a mix of all three, scare the pants off us!

Please include a brief cover letter telling us a little about yourself, where you've published before, etc. But don't worry if this is your first time out: we still want to hear from you!

Stories should be 1,000 to 3,000 words. If you're not familiar with manuscript formats, consult William Shunn's excellent guide (http://www.shunn.net/format/story.html).

Art can be in any visual medium (photography, painting, drawing, digital, and beyond). If submitting a photo of a person, you must be able to provide a model release upon acceptance. Files should generally be a minimum of 1,000 pixels on the shortest edge but you must be able to provide print-suitable hi-resolution versions if accepted.

Audio and video submissions are welcome as well. While these pieces may or may not appear in our final anthology, we may publish them online as part of the anthology release.

If you wish to submit work that has been previously published elsewhere, please provide us with complete publication details which must include medium, date, title, and availability (if known) of publication. We will consider reprints on a case by case basis.
